The Beginning of Language

Maybe it’s because he’s the third.  Maybe I have more experience to listen. Maybe he’s just around so many talkers.  I don’t remember the boys communicating this well at his age.  And don’t get me started on the failure of sign language in this house.

This.

Mine.

What’s this?

What’s that?

See!

See?

Pease.

Mama.

Dada.

Nana.

Oooo.

Want that.

So most of the time I can figure out what he means.  And it’s a little crazy.

My bff has twins. They goo and gah and mee and mo and shu and sha at each other, and they understand what they are pointing at. Like a language all to themselves. In the Lemony Snicket movie, Thing 1 and 2 have subtitles. I know *exactly* why.
